A new video from Bell highlights its collaboration with NASA on a Systems Integration and Operationalization (SIO) demonstration activity, one of a series of demos meant to accelerate progress toward routine commercial use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in the national airspace system. In a simulation of a critical medical transport mission, Bell flew its Autonomous Pod Transport (APT) 70 eVTOL cargo drone through the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, including transitions into and out of busy Class B airspace. “It’s the culmination of a lot of work from the entire team, as well as the FAA and NASA,” noted John Wittmaak, Bell program manager for small/medium UAS.
